Right Man
Newsgroups: talk.bizarre Subject: this guy, John Date: Thu, 24 Jun 1999 22:59:40 +1000 John was what Goethe (or maybe Burroughs) would have described as "eine Richtiger Mann"; the Right Man. He was, in his view, never wrong. He had never experienced a moment of self-doubt in his life; he behaved as if the part of the brain that occasionally asks "do you know what you're doing?" didn't exist in him. He often held forth on topics he knew little or nothing about. He didn't have opinions; he had facts. Even when it was obvious that he was wrong, he'd keep talking, as if letting the other party get a word in might undermine his position. He was universally despised. |
