Warning! Some of the stories mentioned below refer to adult concepts; some of them even describe cohabitation between consenting adults, use of imaginary psychoactive chemicals which (if they existed) might be illegal, and what appears to be gratuitous violence. If any of these things disturb you, upset you or make you feel vaguely unwell, then I humbly suggest you go look elsewhere.

If these things fill you with a sense of righteous indignation and the need to protect other people from such filth, then read on. You need your brain altered in the worst way, and some of these stories might help.

Wet Socks
In one of Michael Moorcock's tales from the End of Time is a reference to the Novel of Discomfort and its most famous practitioner, Ivan Turgiditi. Also mentioned is his classic Wet Socks; this is an attempt at that, although it's a lot shorter. It seems that all you have to do to write 19th century Russian literature is have very long sentences.

Angel in Devil's Boots
Inspired by one line from a Clint Ruin song. The shooting-up-each-other's- blood scene indicates that i've been reading Burroughs a lot.

300 Words: Zombie Cats
This story has little to do with Zombies - it was in reply to a message with a subject of "Zombie Cats". this is a true story, and it reinforces my understanding of the place of cats in our society.

The Dancing Man
For a writing exercise based on "write something about this photo", i think this one came out quite well. i think, perhaps, it had been only a few days since i'd last re-read Snow Crash or something.

Medical
In my relentless pursuit of things alien, I wondered "what kind of medical treatment would other civilisations have?" This led to the idea of "what would happen if they tried to fix human injuries?" Heh heh heh.

My New Eyes
Vaguely Cyberpunk in feel; the surreal plot (or lack of plot) is entirely due to the fact that it's based on a dream I had. I can still see those red-crystal eyes, even as I sit here typing this..

Horror Story
This is brief and it has a twist at the end that I like to think Stephen King might grin at, if he read it.

Things on my Desk
A standard talk.bizarre post - in fact, a standard post in many electronic forums - is a list of "The things I have on my desk". Some of the things listed here were actually on my desk when I wrote this; some of them weren't. It shouldn't be too hard to work out which.

Fantasy of the Month 12
"Tolkene" is a chemical described in Days of the Underground (a work in progress); it's supposed to make your mental processes hard to follow. In this story someone tries to tell an erotic vampire story (which I'd been working on until someone pointed out how much like The Vampire Lestat it was) while under the influence of Tolkene. Scott Dorsey liked it.

Job Interviews 4
The most recent Fantasy Job Interview story. I'd just found out that some companies like to interview their prospective workers two or even three times; it was only a short step from there to wondering how many times, how many different forms these interviews could take. And an even shorter step from that, to this story.

Metamorphs 6
For those of you unfamiliar with the Metamorphs; they are humans who have been given total control over every aspect of their forms (much like Vergil Ulam in Greg Bear's Blood Music); they use these abilities for the most frivolous purposes imaginable. This story is about a Metamorph whose research into simulating intelligence gets a bit out of hand.

RGB
I'd just finished watching Legend of the Overfiend. I'd been watching anime all week; 3x3 Eyes, Dominion: Tank Police, Wicked City, and this story is a result of all that strange input. If anyone would like to make a film of this, I'd be interested in helping with character sketches or sound effects. I want to stress that the bit with the purple rabbits was not written with anyone specifically in mind.

Travel Tales
Three stories told from the point of view of a tourist in the alien worlds of my future history. This is a damn good way of expositing, folks. I expect that I'll write more of these as I invent interesting (well, hopefully, interesting) alien worlds for people to visit.

Upgrade
Imagine upgrading your PC from MS-DOS version 2.2 to Windows 95, without any documentation. Then imagine going that far again, upgrading to an operating system designed for the next step up the evolutionary ladder. Heh.

Raummir
Also known as the home of the Maracites; Planet of the Goths. Being a Goth, I'd like to imagine that there's a place for us in the future, somewhere where we can be ourselves without having to answer to conventional society. The Maracite society is even now being detailed, with a view to writing more stories.
