Forget all the echoey sound effects and cool laser visuals and ooh yeah they dress in black all the time and they've got computers BUILT INTO EM how cool is that. Let go all of the associations you have with all that crap. No image, no sound effects, not even feeling a particular way. That's not what it's about; doesn't even come close to describing it. Bruce Sterling's story "The Hive" came pretty close. But it's like trying to... to, you know, describe-something-in-words when there-aren't-words-for-it. Making approximations out of words actually takes you away from the concept. It's not about describing. You only need to know how to describe something to the others so that they can either ignore it or use it. After that, descriptions only get in the way of the real business of living. So get out there, and live. And convert all others to the way.
