Magnets
by Hetre Z

One day a young girl was walking down the street when she met three strange, metal shapes walking past. They greeted her, and the girl said, "What are you?"

The first bowed and said, "I am a food magnet. Whenever you're hungry, it's because I'm there, and all the molecules in your body are lining up food-wise, and trying to get away from you. That is why sometimes you want food, and sometimes you don't."

The second shape bowed and said, "I am a bird magnet. Every molecule in every bird is aligned me-wise, and when you see them flying, it's really me just pulling them along."

The third shape said, with dignity, "I am a magnet magnet," and that's all it would say.

The little girl, impressed with her new friends, decided then and there she would become a magnet herself. "But what shall I be?" she asked them.

"Be a chess magnet," said the first. "Always win at chess."

"Be a rubber magnet," said the second. "You'll never lack for kickballs."

"Be a magnet magnet," said the third, who was still sulking a bit.

The girl thought, and thought, and finally decided, "I'll be a me magnet." And instantly, all the molecules in her body lined up her-wise, and she walked back home, smiling, looking exactly the same.
