Links

Here are links to some of my favourite Sims sites. The list just includes those sites I used to visit regularly (when I was active in the Sims world), and my favourite aspects of each. If you want a more comprehensive or current list, try the Open Directory's Sims category.

Community

  • alt.games.the-sims -- unmoderated Usenet newsgroup not for children or the easily offended, but full of interesting and informed posters. And a few entertaining trolls.
  • Gay Sims Club -- adults-only discussion board for gays, lesbians, and the gay-friendly.
  • Neighborhood 99 -- a Sims message board with a pleasantly high signal-to-noise ratio.
  • The Sim -- funny, irreverent, and inventive news coverage.
  • The Sims Blog -- pointers to the best new downloads, and commentary from 0neverever0.
  • Sims Showcase -- pictures of the latest downloads in the Sims community, and links to the sites where you can get them.

Free downloads

  • 3D Design for the Sims -- advice and many meshes from master mesher Jerome.
  • 3D Sister -- Denise Lee offers the funkiest clothes and furniture.
  • 7 Deadly Sims -- original objects and skins by exceptionally talented artists.
  • Barairo no Jinsei -- original, wonderfully detailed skins with an edge. Some adults-only areas.
  • Boutika -- classy, modern designer clothes for women and girls.
  • Cheap Frills -- distinctive, original heads, and some unique objects with original animations.
  • Cloth Menagerie -- tasty bordello gear for men and women, and lovely curvy meshes for larger ladies.
  • Corry's Factory -- interesting meshes and skins, including kimonos and cute pleated skirts.
  • Dincer Hepguler -- you won't find objects like this anywhere else. My favourites are the Moroccan and antique sets.
  • Fairywitch and Ikbod Sim -- modern furniture sets with an Ikea feel.
  • Livin' It Up -- new home of the Master Mesh List, lots of nifty downloads, and news from the Village Voice.
  • Lyran's Sim Design -- all the skins here are in sets, with matching pajamas, swimsuits, and (for the adults) formal wear. Sets are nifty.
  • Moni's Sims -- lovely objects and decor, featuring original stuff like the Simpsons house, and ancient houses from Egypt, Rome, and Greece.
  • Natalia's SimShop Online -- clothing of all kinds, including Big Girls, and nice matching furniture and decor sets.
  • Paladin's Place -- essential utilities for managing and customising your Sims game.
  • Simophor -- some of the best decor I've seen, with a tropical Asian feel. Those frameless windows! Those plants!
  • Sims Interior Design -- modern furniture sets to add some class to your Sims' homes.
  • SimSisters -- great meshes and clothes for women, men, and kids, of all sizes and tastes.
  • The Sims Resource -- many many downloads, with quality ranging from outstanding to dreadful. Always worth a look.
  • Stylissimode -- downloadable pose libraries; essential for skinners like me who just can't get the hang of posing their creations.

Paysites

  • 8th Deadly Sim -- some adult items, and some superb quality objects.
  • SimFreaks -- frequent updates, many contributing artists, Fionn's fabulous RealHeads, and a humongous back catalog.
  • The Well Dressed Sim -- high-quality clothes, heads, and furniture, at the conservative end of the spectrum.
